The biggest story of this month comes from CORSA
Northwest. The February 14 meeting held at Good Chevrolet, 3rd
and Burnett Streets, Renton, WA, was attended by some sixteen
people. In attendance was Mr. Peyton Whitely, of The Seattle
Times, whose five column article on Corvairs and CORSA Northwest
appeared in the Sunday, February 18 edition. On the 25th of
February CORSA Northwest held a picnic at Kirkland's Marina
Park. A picture taking session was scheduled which may result
in a Sunday supplement photo story. How about that! CORSA Northwest
meets regularly on the second Wednesday of each month at Good
Chevrolet in Renton. Next meeting is set for March 14 at 7:30PM.
Details from Tom Drummond (939-1864) or Chuck Norris (226-5492).
The Twin Cities Group of The North Central Corvair
Association held their first meeting on February 1 at a local
Chevrolet dealer. Eighteen people were there including one hearty
soul who traveled 143 miles. The February 22 meeting was held
at Rosedale Chevrolet. Art Herschberger from Solar Automotive
was the featured speaker. On display was Solar's 1973 Cavalier.
The Twin Cities Chapter's next meeting is scheduled for March
8, 7:00PM, at Midway Chevrolet. Because of the large geographic
area covered by the Chapter, the meeting site for the monthly
meetings will be at different Chevrolet dealers in the area.
Many thanks to those dealers involved with this plan; it's nice
to see that in some parts of the country the Corvair is not
a complete orphan. CORSA members in Minnesota or western Wisconsin
interested in The Twin Cities Chapter are asked to contact Bob
Johnston (757-5152) or Keith Johnson (869-1926).
The Southern California CORSA Chapter is to
be the host for CORSA's 1973 National Convention, July 20-22.
Members have been spending much time in preparation, but not
all the time has been devoted to hard work. For example, the
February activity was a progressive dinner party starting at
Carl Cewinski's home in Inglewood at 2:00PM and ending at the
home of Herb Berkman in the San Fernando Valley just after 1:00AM.
Herb is SC's Membership Committee Chairman and as such has put
together an excellent "Prospective Member's Kit" covering both
the local and national clubs. Chapter meetings are held on the
first Sunday of each month, 3:30PM, at The Western Federal Savings
building, 355 East Manchester Boulevard, Inglewood. The March
activity was a slalom sponsored by Corvettes of Southern California
at the same site to be used for the CORSA National Convention
autocross. The month of April will bring a "Change of Pace"
road trip on the fifteenth; destination not yet established.

The Rock Mountain CORSA Chapter met for the
first time on February 7 at the home of Ted Rains, 220 Lookout
View Court, in Golden, CO. A dozen Corvair enthusiasts were
on hand to get acquainted and begin organizing. Next meeting
is March 7; those interested are invited to contact Ted Rains
at the address above or call Richard Harris in Denver
at 934-2579.
Ken Klingaman has been elected new President
of The New Jersey Association of Corvair Enthusiasts. Secretary
is now George Urbani. In addition to the changing of the guard,
the palace has changed too. Duke's Farm Inn, the previous meeting
site, has changed hands and the new management has not been
as cooperative as the old. New meeting site is the Riverview
Inn in Northbranch, three miles north of the Somerville Circle
on Route 202. Meetings are now the first Tuesday of the month
at 7:30PM. Details from Ken Klingaman, 381-7725.
CORSA members in the Buffalo, NY area interested
in forming a club are asked to contact Jim Bartasevich, 3410
McKinley Parkway, Apt. 4, Blasdell, NY 14219. By phone, Jim
can be reached after 7:00PM at 716--822-5350.
The Central Pennsylvania Corvair Club, jointly
established by Leon Hooper and Jim Bradley, will hold their
second meeting March 25, 2:00PM, at LeFever Chevrolet in Dillsburg
(junction of US Route 15 & PA 74). Further information from
Leon Hooper, RD #1, Dalmatia, PA 17017.
Long Island, NY CORSA members interested in
forming a CORSA chapter are requested to call Charles Lee at
516--281-0025. All New York City area members are also invited
to join.
The South Carolina Sandlapper Corvairs' January
meeting was very productive in getting things underway. Next
meeting will be March 25 at The Garden Dale Swim Club off Interstate
26 and Bush River Road. Details from Norm Jacobs, 704 Vintage
Lane, Columbia, SC.
The Philadelphia Area CORSA Chapter has elected
new officers for the 1973 year. New President Bob Elliott has
appointed Bill Haney as Activities Chairman and John Wiegand
as Newsletter Editor. Also elected were Marc Kamp, Vice-President,
and John Pearson, Treasurer. This new reform administration
is determined to improve on the somewhat casual organization
of the past. OK guys, but you won't have M___E____ to kick around
any more! Next meeting is set for March 18 with the first slalom
of the season (at last) the following week.
