Suspension

An adjustable 1” front tubular sway bar on poly bushings from Bob Coffin was installed. I had to cut the stock sway bar brackets off the lower A arm as they were rubbing on the tubular bar. The upper A arms use Delrin bushings with stainless steel inserts. .

The caster adjusting brake reaction rods are Heim jointed with a special bracket bolted to the crossmember and the other end of the arm mounting has been lowered by slotting the side of the arm and bolting it to the bottom.

Front springs are Mercury Bobcat units with coils cut to an 8 ¾” free length making the rate 540 pounds.

Shocks are Koni adjustable from SC Performance.

Steering assembly is stock arms with adjustable steel tie rods with Heim ends for better bump steer adjustments.

The stock relay rod has a ½” metal angle stiffener welded to it.

The steering box is a quick ratio unit from Flaming River with the collapsible shaft running to a ¾” hollow shaft, a Sweets quick release hub and a Progrip 15 inch diameter dished light weight hollow aluminum steering wheel.

The stock relay rod has a ½” metal angle stiffener welded to it.

Rear suspension is a modified adjustable four link type from Bob Coffin. The axle yoke bolts are removed from the diff and the bolt holes plugged. A Crown style bracket with relocated mounting points holds the lower rods in place.

Trailing arms have mono ball pivots in place of the stock bushings. The stabilizer rods were eliminated with this mod.

The springs are Southwest Speed Black Magic 5.5” OD x 11”, 350 pound units with one coil cut. The spring cones are welded in place to retain the spring and a short poly bumper replaced the stock rubber snubber.

Making the rear suspension lower requires modifying the lower shock bracket by removing it, turning it upside down and rewelding to position the bolt hole lower giving the bump stop time to limit the compression travel before the shock bottoms out and creates damage.

Installing a 15” X 10” wide rim with a 5 ½” backspace required trimming the edge of the top spring perch to clear the big Hoosier P275/45ZR-15 tire.
